課程概述

本課程適合未學過華語者選修，使用的教材為《實用視聽華語一》（第一課~第七課），盼學生能兼顧「聽說讀寫」四方面的語言能力，使學生生活不因語言不通而有障礙，並期望學生能透過課程進一步了解華語及台灣文化。
This course uses the textbook “Practical Audio-Visual Chinese I” (Lesson 1~ 7) to help students develop proficient language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing that would enable them to communicate effectively in their daily lives. Through the course, students will further understand Taiwanese culture and language.

課程目標

1. 學會使用漢語拼音。
Learn to use Hanyu Pinyin.
2. 學會漢字的結構、筆順及寫法。
Understand the structure, stroke orders, and writing method of Chinese characters.
3. 了解華語基本句型及語序、架構。
Understand basic Chinese sentence structure and word order.
4. 學會如何得體使用華語認識他人及介紹自我。
Capable of self-introduction and carrying on a basic conversation.

課程要求

1. 每次上課，請攜帶課本與講義。
Bring all the materials when you come to class.

2. 上課時，請說中文，不說英文及其他非中文的語言。
Please use Chinese exclusively in class.

3. 上課時，請積極參與課程討論與活動，聽老師和同學的發言與討論。不該做其他和課程無關的事情。
Participate in classroom activities and class discussion is essential. Please do not engage in other things that are not related to the course during class hour.

4. 上課期間，若非本課程需要，請勿使用手機、電腦等電子產品，並請將手機轉為震動或靜音。
Please do not use cell phone, laptop, iPad and any electronic devices during the class (except asked by the instructor for class activities). Phones must be set on silent mode during class time.

5. 請尊重老師和同學。如果上課時，發生同學之間，或師生之間的爭執，或是上課時學生離題、發表歧視言行的情況，教師將視情況打斷學生發言，以維護課程順利進行。
Be respectful of each other in classroom, Topics discussed in class should be related to the course. If students argue with classmates or the instructor in class, which is effect on the class going on smoothly, the instructor will end the topic anytime. Or, if students talk too much to stray into the topic is not related to the course, the instructor also will interrupt them anytime.

※ 以上規定列入平時成績，要是違反規定，經老師警告三次後，第四次開始扣分。每次每項扣1分。
All requirements mentioned above are related to the score under “Attendance and Performance”. Any violation will be warned by the instructor in person. Start from the 4th offence, one point will be deducted each time for the violation of the class requirements.

1.	課堂出席與課堂參與和表現 Attendance and Class Participation	15%	(1) 每堂課遲到或早退 20 分鐘以上，即算缺席一小時。 Late for class more than 20 minutes or leave the class 20 minutes earlier than scheduled time will be regarded as one-hour absence. (2) 每個學生一學期可有三次缺席(9 個小時，含遲到或早退)，老師不會扣分，但必須事先寫信告訴老師。第十個小時開始，每缺席一小時，就扣出席及平時表現成績 1 分。缺課時數超過學期的五分之一則不給予學分。若有事無法上課，請先寫信告訴老師。 Students who are absent within 9 hours (including the absence that are late for class or leave the class 20 minutes than scheduled from class) will not lose any point, but you must inform the instructor by email in advance that you are unable to attend the class. From the 10th hour, students will lose one point per hour. Students are absent more than 1/5 of the semester (more than 20 hours, the 20th hour not included.) will fail the class. Inform the instructor by email in advance if you are unable to attend the class.
2.	作業 Homework	20%	作業包括學生作業簿、中國字習寫練習及其他強化能力的作業。作業於課堂上領取，未出席者於課程網站下載後書寫。作業需於老師指定日內交回，晚交會批改但不計分。 Homework includes Chinese character practice and some other assignments, such as writing narrations or dialogues. Homework will be handed out in class, you must download it here if you are absent. All assignments must be handed in on time, late submission will not be accepted and students won’t get any points.
3.	平時測驗 Quizzes and Tests	20%	(1) 從第二週課程開始，除期中考及期末考週以外，每次上課都有聽寫考試。一上課就考試，如果因故而沒參加考試的，不能補考。期末會選最好的 8 次列入聽寫成績。 From the 2nd week, there will be dictation quiz at the beginning of the class. No make-up quiz provided. The instructor will pick 8 best scores at the end of the semester. (2) 每課教完有單元考試(一共為 6~7次)。單元考試時間不定，但皆為該天上課最後一小時。考試主要為筆試(含聽力測驗)，視情況加入口試。每課小考缺考不予補考。 There will be a written test (including listening comprehension) for each lesson (the total is 6 ~7 tests). The test will be given at the last hour of the class. There will be several oral tests this semester. You can’t take a make-up test if you miss the test for each lesson.
4.	期中考 Mid-term exam	15%	期中考試為筆試(60%)、聽力測驗(10%)及口試(30%)。若因故無法參加，必須事先知會老師，方可在一週內補考筆試及聽力測驗。若沒於考試前至少一天先告訴老師，將不能進行補考。 Mid-term exam includes written test (60%), listening comprehension (10%) and oral test (30%). Students who can’t take mid-term exam on the scheduled date must inform the instructor at least one day before the exam date. You will need to take a make-up exam within one week. You can’t take the make-up exam if you didn’t inform the instructor in advance.
5.	期末考 Final exam	15%	期末考試為筆試(90%)、聽力測驗(10%)。期末考不管什麼原因，均不能補考。 Final exam includes written test (90%) and listening comprehension (10%). You will not be able to take a make-up exam if you miss it.
6.	期末報告 Final Presentation	15%	Every student needs to do a presentation for 4~5 minutes.
